Kindergarten students in Mrs. Alpe/Evans' class studied apples back in October and recently carried out plans to plant a tree in the spring. They learned all about the Arkansas Black apple tree. They found out that it was developed in Bentonville, AR in 1870 and produces very dark red apples, resulting in its name Arkansas Black. The tree will grow to be around 20 feet tall and will start beating apples in 5-8 years. These students will be in 5th grade. They had a wonderful time learning about apples and planting a tree outside of Center Valley.
