CSU will be sponsoring a clothing drive when we return from Christmas break. Please collect your gently worn clothes, shoes, and coats and bring them back to RJHS between January 9th and January 31st.

Congratulations to the 97 RMS and RJHS Band students (and 8 alternates) who made the Region IX Junior High Honor Bands yesterday! Mr. Jeff Kee would like to say THANKS to all the band parents who worked tirelessly at the event! You are appreciated so much! Thanks to Julia Reynolds, Joseph Gearheart, Lauren Steele and the ASBOA office staff for all your help! RJHS couldn’t have done it without you! You guys are awesome! Special thanks to the Russellville School District and Region IX for allowing us to host the event at RJHS. It was a great day!

RJHS students have raised over 1500 cans during our canned food drive! We would love to give the cans to those in need in our school and in our community. If you, or someone you know, would like a bag of food items for the holidays, please come pick them up at RJHS at the front of the building Wednesday, November 22nd from 9a.m. to 12p.m. Food will be distributed on a first come first serve basis. We look forward to seeing you then!

It is time for the annual Adopt a Whirlwind” drive. Adoptions can be made beginning on Thursday, Nov. 16th. A Christmas tree will be set up in the RJHS cafeteria with whirlwind ornaments that have each need and the adoption information on them. Adopt early and take advantage of Black Friday sales. Adoptions can also be made after we return from break. All gifts are due by December 15th. RJHS would like to invite you to our Thanksgiving feast on Thursday, November 16. 8th graders will eat at 10:45 am and 9th graders will eat at 11:45 am. Please come to the front office to purchase tickets. Also, RJHS has been doing a canned food drive for families that are in need of food for the holiday. Please come to the front entrance of RJHS on Thursday, November 16, between 4pm and 6pm to pick up a bag of canned goods.

RJHS will be conducting the first of three ACT Aspire Interim tests this week. The 8th grade will test tomorrow, Tuesday, November 14th. The 9th grade will test on Wednesday, November 15th.

This week is Diabetes Awareness Week! Students will be listening to guest speakers during both lunches on some days and videos on the other days. In addition, Student Counsil is selling armbands and we are going to "Walk for a Cure" on Friday afternoon. RJHS's goal is $800! Students can pay $1 during TEAM and then fill their name out on a sneaker cutout. The sneakers will be hung up in the cafeteria. We will wear BLUE on Friday for the walk. This Thursday, November 16th, all Russellville Junior High families are invited to pick up a bag of canned food items for the holidays. The items can be picked up at the front of the Junior High from 4-6pm. We look forward to seeing you!

Parents, Progress Reports are due to go out this Wednesday, November 15th. Students should bring home a report from each graded class. If you have any questions or concerns with any of your child’s grades, please email your child's specific teacher.

Congratulations to the 8th grade spelling bee winners: In order of appearance- 1st place Rylee Huffman, 2nd place Maggie Hutchison, and 3rd place Julian Navarro!

Flyers were sent home yesterday with information about the Thanksgiving Dinner here at school on November 16th. The 8th grade lunch will begin at 10:45 am and 9th grade lunch will begin at 11:45 am. The cost is $4.25 per person. In an effort to have enough prepared for the feast, please return the reservation slip (on the form sent home yesterday) to the RJHS office by noon on Monday, November 13th or call 968-1599 with the number of guests attending.

Tryouts for the Lady Cyclone Soccer Team will be November 7th, 9th, and 13th from 6:30pm-8:00pm at the high school field. You must bring a copy of your current physical BEFORE you're able to tryout. If you have any questions you can email Coach Young at kelly.young@russellvilleschools.net

RJHS Parent Teacher Conferences are Tuesday, October 24, 2017 in the RJHS cafeteria. They will begin at 1:00pm and end at 7:00pm. Parents can enter the building under both 8th and 9th covered walkways. The Book Fair will be set up as you walk in the building. RJHS principals and teachers are excited to see everyone there!

Parents please do not forget that there will be no school on Monday, October 23rd, and Tuesday, October 24th, due to Teacher Inservice and Parent Teacher Conferences. Students have a great 4 day weekend!
